About
Charter is a Python library that lets developers declare AI agent tools as Pydantic schemas instead of writing implementation code; the model fills in the arguments and Charter handles the request, authentication, and wire format. It ships 549 tools across fifteen APIs, runs in-process as a library rather than a hosted proxy service, and has no per-call pricing or telemetry.
Why it made the leaderboard
It collapses the usual per-API glue code needed to expose tools to agents into a schema declaration, cutting integration time for anyone wiring agents to real-world APIs.
