New in Hermes Agent v0.21.0: Persistent Multi-Gateway Connections for Desktop Hook in any combination of remote gateways at once, whether Hermes Cloud instances or local agents, then see every bot and chat across all of them.
Context
In Hermes v0.21.0, Nous Research changed the Desktop app so it can stay connected to several remote gateways at once, according to the release post. Those can be any mix of Hermes Cloud instances and local agents, and the app then shows every bot and chat across all of them in one place.
In Hermes, a gateway is the piece that connects an agent to the outside world. The Messaging Gateway documentation describes it as a single background process that connects to all of an agent's configured platforms, such as Telegram, Discord or Slack, handles sessions and runs scheduled jobs. A Hermes Cloud instance is a hosted, always-on agent with its own gateway, while a local agent runs on the user's own machine. If someone runs agents in both places, this release lets them watch all those agents' conversations from one Desktop window.
The post is a short announcement, and its attached video could not be reviewed. It doesn't say what "persistent" covers in practice, for example whether connections survive restarts or reconnect on their own, or whether there is a limit on how many gateways can be connected. It also doesn't say whether the app can do more than display chats from a connected gateway.
