Day 2.4/ Decisions API is live. We will use this ourselves to improve the experience for everyone in many fun ways. Realtime general classifier does open some great possibilities. https://t.co/acVDfnvOvU

Context

The Decisions API from OpenAI lets a developer ask a model to pick from answers defined in advance instead of writing text. According to OpenAI's developer account, the developer supplies text or an image and a question, and the model returns a probability that a statement is true, a choice among fixed options with confidence scores, or a score within a numeric range. The model behind it is GPT-6 Luna, and the API is in public beta.

Tibo described it in a follow-up post as a realtime general classifier, meaning a model that sorts inputs into categories quickly enough to use during a live interaction, and wrote that "we will use this ourselves" to improve the experience, without saying how. Speed is the main claim: OpenAI says decisions come up to 10 times faster than calling GPT-6 Luna through its Responses API, and the thread does not state the test conditions.
