Quoting John Gruber

Simon Willison quoted John Gruber's argument that Meta's Muse, an agentic AI assistant presented as a cute mascot, may hide how much power it has. Gruber calls it "a genuinely open question" whether consumers understand what Muse means, compares it to a power saw whose danger buyers know, and writes that people do not realize how powerful, and dangerous, Muse is, especially if it is running on a Mac.
The design account, which carries a Meta copyright notice, says Muse has its own computer with a file system and terminal and a full web browser. It also describes an activity log that shows permissions the user has approved, and approval cards that stop Muse before hard-to-undo actions such as sending an email or making a purchase. The account describes these controls but does not say how well users understand them, which is the open question Gruber raises.
