Context

Cloudflare announced a Web Search API in beta on October 2, 2026, so AI agents and applications can look up live information instead of relying on a model's training data. Its changelog entry says developers can call it over REST with a bearer , or from a Cloudflare Worker.

Requests go through Cloudflare's AI Gateway to a provider the developer chooses: Ceramic.ai, Exa or Linkup. Each search appears in gateway logs and is billed to AI Gateway credits at the provider's list price with no added markup, and developers can bring their own provider key. The entry says all three providers support Zero Data Retention for requests made through Cloudflare, which is the page's own statement.

The entry lists no rate limits or quotas, and the feature is in beta, so its limits for production use are not documented there.
