Cline CLI 3.0.74 is a reliability release: most of its changes stop the command-line coding agent from hanging, duplicating work or failing on a provider setting. Several fixes involve the Hub, a background Cline service whose state the CLI reports through cline hub status. Before this version, opening a task that was already running in another Cline app started a second copy that could not be stopped. Now it attaches to the existing run, and if an app closes mid-task, requests waiting on it fail with a clear message instead of hanging. The cline hub status and cline doctor commands also stop waiting on a frozen Hub after three seconds and report it as not running, according to the release notes.

Two fixes target specific model providers. With the gemini provider, Cline no longer sends the request for Google's built-in search tool. The notes say free-tier Google API keys failed every turn with a 429 quota error on Gemini 3 and later, and on Gemini 2.x every Cline tool was dropped, so anyone who saw those failures has a reason to update. For Moonshot AI's Kimi K3, Cline's Extra High and Max settings now send the max reasoning level the model accepts, instead of an xhigh value it rejected.

Other changes affect how a long session behaves. Automatic compaction, which shortens the conversation history when it nears the model's context limit, no longer runs on models whose limit Cline does not know, and it no longer repeats every few tool calls after the first time. A turn that drops after the model has streamed only its reasoning is retried instead of ending the run, while model requests now retry at most three times instead of five. The release also refreshes the model catalog, with ClinePass, Cline's subscription, now defaulting to Kimi K3.1 Pro.
