c64-hw-sim: Commodore 64 Hardware Simulator

c64-hw-sim simulates the Commodore 64 motherboard (ASSY 250407) pin by pin from its netlist. You can lift a chip leg, short it to ground or 5V, pull a chip from its socket or open a resistor, then watch the monitor picture, keyboard and board signals. Garbage on screen is computed from the circuit rather than scripted, which helps with learning the hardware and with guessing which chips to desolder on a broken machine. It runs at roughly a third to a half of real speed, so it is not meant for playing games.
