OOMU is a native macOS AI assistant written in Rust and AppKit (no Electron) that can operate system apps, run terminal commands, and produce documents like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF across multi-turn tasks. It defaults to local models but supports bring-your-own-key cloud APIs (OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, Mistral) for harder work, and uses a small on-device routing model to decide, turn by turn, whether a request should run locally or in the cloud.
Why it made the leaderboard
A native, lightweight macOS agent harness written in Rust that routes prompts between local and cloud models automatically, cutting API costs and eliminating the setup churn of open-source alternatives like OpenClaw.
