About
psnek is a Python progress bar library with nested bars, live status fields, DataFrame printing for pandas and polars, and semantic coloring that turns amber when a loop stalls and red when it is stuck. It has no Python dependencies, includes a dedicated Jupyter renderer, supports threads, processes, asyncio and free-threaded Python, and disables styling automatically in CI and coding-agent environments. The author reports lower overhead than tqdm in included benchmarks.
Why it made the leaderboard
A tqdm alternative with far lower claimed overhead, live metrics in the bar, and output that stays clean when run by CI or coding agents.
