Context
Product teams need concrete descriptions of good model behavior to improve it. Cat Wu, who leads product for Claude Code and Cowork at Anthropic, describes combining informed user feedback with targeted evaluations. A teammate might notice that a model tests too little or writes questionable memories. That observation becomes a hypothesis to check against broader data. Small sets of carefully chosen tasks then make the desired behavior explicit. This connects a user's impression to something the team can investigate and measure.
- eval — A repeatable test for AI quality — a set of tasks plus scoring — used the way software teams use test suites, because model output is too variable to judge by eyeballing.
“We want to remove every single barrier to shipping things.”

“So an extreme example is, if Cloud Code failed but Anthropic succeeded, I would be extremely happy.”
Cat Wu
“As code becomes much cheaper to write, the thing that becomes more valuable is deciding what to write.”
Cat Wu
“And if an automation doesn't work 100% of the time, it's not really an automation.”
Cat Wu
“I think the hard thing is figuring out for the current model, how do you elicit the maximum capability?”
