python-webrtc binds libwebrtc, the WebRTC engine inside Chrome, and exposes it through browser-style APIs such as RTCPeerConnection, data channels, tracks and WebCodecs frames. It runs on asyncio, supports VP8, VP9, AV1, H.264 and Opus, and keeps media handling in native code. An aiortc compatibility layer eases migration from that library.

Why it made the leaderboard

It lets Python code use Chrome's own WebRTC engine through the familiar browser API, with an aiortc migration path. That suits realtime audio and video agents that need browser-grade interop.
