You can now set Claude Code's output style to Concise.
Claude leads with the result, keeps responses short, and still gives full detail when you ask.
Turn it on in /config → Output style, or set "outputStyle": "Concise" in settings.json.
Anthropic added a Concise output style to Claude Code that puts the result first and keeps routine responses short, while allowing fuller explanations on request. The August 20 announcement gives two ways to select it: choose Output style in /config, or set the outputStyle field to Concise in settings.json. This gives users control over how much explanation appears by default.
