About
DAB is a browser editor for Unicode Braille-pattern graphics. Draw dot patterns, duplicate and edit animation frames, and export strings or arrays for terminal interfaces. It provides visual graphics data rather than translating text into readable Braille.
At a glance
DAB lets you draw tiny pictures with Unicode Braille dots and turn successive frames into code for terminal graphics. It is worth trying for a custom spinner, status icon or small terminal animation: changing the drawing updates the character strings immediately. It is a graphics editor, not a translator for readable Braille.
Good fit
CLI and terminal-interface authors who want to design a small animation visually instead of calculating character patterns by hand. Each character represents a two-column, four-row dot cell. Duplicate frames and onion skinning help make incremental changes, while exports supply the strings or arrays needed by your program.
Consider something else when
You need text translated for a Braille reader or a large image and video editor. The documented grid is limited to ten by six character cells, and output still depends on the destination font’s Braille rendering. Exported frame data also needs playback logic in your application.
Start here
Keep the default two-cell canvas and choose Fill. Choose Dup, then Clear to make a second frame. The Animation panel now contains one filled and one blank string; this sequence was produced in the browser trial. Choose the output format and copy the array into a small test in your terminal application. Check the actual font before expanding the animation.
Cost and requirements
The hosted browser editor has no account or checkout step, and the README labels the source MIT. It uses browser storage to save the current project and offers downloadable JSON project files. Animation exports include JavaScript, JSON, Python, Rust and C; these are data formats for code you integrate, not a supplied cross-language animation runtime.
Limits to know
Keep backups with Save rather than depending on browser storage. The JavaScript-array import parser evaluates the supplied text, so do not paste untrusted snippets or import files from unknown authors. The trial checked two-frame editing and generated output; no import, project restore, compiled-language integration or accessibility-device compatibility was tested.

What it can do
Draw pixel art using Braille characters
User mouse/touch input or drawing commands → Braille character-based pixel art
Create animations with Braille dots
Sequence of Braille character drawings → Animated Braille character sequences
Export animations for CLI applications
Braille character animations → CLI-compatible animation files
Export animations for terminal UIs
Braille character animations → Terminal UI-compatible animation files
Edit individual Braille dot patterns
User selection and modification commands → Modified Braille character patterns
Why it made the leaderboard
DAB lets terminal-interface authors draw small icons and animations instead of calculating Braille character patterns by hand. Its live character and code outputs connect each frame directly to data they can use in their own program.
