MagicVault is a local credential broker that lets AI agents trigger the use of stored passwords or API keys via references—filling a browser field, making an HTTP call, or launching a process—without the agent ever seeing the plaintext value. Every delivery requires explicit human approval through native OS prompts, and it currently only supports macOS Apple Silicon in an alpha, source-only state.

What it can do

  • Fill a browser field with a stored credential using a reference, without exposing the plaintext to the requesting agent

  • Make an HTTP request using a stored credential

    Credential reference and HTTP request details → HTTP call with injected credential

  • Launch a new process with a stored credential injected

    Credential reference and process launch parameters → Running process with credential

  • Require explicit human approval via native OS prompts before delivering a credential

    Credential delivery request → Approval decision

  • Deliver credentials to requesting agents via MCP or CLI interface

    Credential reference → Delivered credential action
