nix-compact is a Nix build wrapper that suppresses routine build output, reporting progress every 15 seconds while still writing full logs to disk. It surfaces bounded diagnostic excerpts and includes a reader command for investigating specific log lines, aimed at keeping build output readable for both humans and coding agents.
Why it made the leaderboard
nix-compact keeps full Nix build logs on disk while giving coding agents (and humans) a small, bounded summary to reason from, reducing wasted context on noisy build output.
