About
Collaboration platform spanning meetings, messaging and calling, with organization-managed access and content policies. Free meetings are limited to 40 minutes and 100 attendees. Browser joining depends on host policy, and documented Meetings MCP access requires administrator enablement and user OAuth.
At a glance
Webex suits teams that want meetings, messaging and managed calling within one collaboration platform. The strongest case is a shared organizational workflow, with hosting, access and content policies managed together. For a short standalone video call, start with the free meeting limits before buying into the broader suite. Meetings, phone-number calling and contact-center products are distinct offers; a free meeting account does not include everything carrying the Webex name.
Good fit
Teams that need regular hosted meetings alongside persistent messaging, or already work inside a Webex organization. Participants do not need a paid host license simply to attend. Browser joining can reduce setup for guests, while administrators control whether sign-in is required. For meeting-data workflows, Webex documents a Meetings MCP server that can find meetings, retrieve available recordings or transcripts, and manage schedules. It requires organization-admin enablement and user OAuth; AI-generated summaries require Webex AI Assistant.
Consider something else when
You need free meetings longer than 40 minutes, expect every participant to join anonymously, or need all desktop features from a browser. Host policies can require sign-in and lobby admission. Agent access also depends on an enabled organization, the authenticated user and available meeting assets. It is not a way to retrieve arbitrary meetings or create transcripts that were never generated. Scheduling tools can send invitations, so reading records and changing a meeting are different operations.
Start here
For an invitation you are authorized to attend, open the meeting link and choose Join from this browser if you want to avoid an app installation. Follow the guest or sign-in path the host allows, then use the preview to check the intended audio and video settings before joining. The official help pages also link to a test meeting for checking your environment. For hosting, create a free account and verify the meeting’s length, guest-access and recording behavior before adopting it for a recurring workflow. These are documented steps; this review did not join or host a meeting, grant camera or microphone access, or assess call quality.
Cost and requirements
The US pricing page checked 31 October 2026 lists Webex Free with meetings up to 40 minutes and 100 attendees, plus messaging, whiteboards and local recording. The free-plan guide describes recordings saved to the host’s computer, not an automatic cloud archive for every participant or browser. Paid features are licensed to hosts; concurrent hosted meetings need additional host licenses. Paid package rates, phone-number calling and regional charges were not verified at checkout. Choose the meeting, calling or broader suite package against your actual requirements instead of treating a single advertised feature as the whole plan.
Limits to know
Organizational retention settings govern server-held messages and meeting records. The retention guide says user deletion can be a soft delete, with content still available to a compliance officer until the applicable purge. That differs from a free local recording saved on a computer. The guide’s regional and plan-specific retention rules should not be generalized into one lifetime for all Webex data. Research covered current plan and joining documentation, retention and the documented MCP interface. It did not test media quality, accessibility, recordings, administration, calling, API/MCP access or enterprise controls.

Why it made the leaderboard
Worth evaluating for a shared meeting and messaging workflow with organizational controls. Hosts, guests and agents face different license, access and content-availability requirements; no live meeting or MCP session was tested.
