About
Nanosamurai is a self-hosted speech-to-text platform that runs Whisper, Qwen ASR, NeMo ASR, and Parakeet TDT models for realtime, semi-realtime, and batch transcription. It ships as a Docker Compose stack with an Electron desktop app for local use, and the same stack scales to Kubernetes or on-prem deployments with built-in observability, agentic workflows, and webhooks, aimed at organizations that need speech processing in air-gapped environments.
At a glance
Nanosamurai orchestrates speech processing and related workflows on infrastructure you control. It is worth evaluating if you need to choose models for different speech workloads and also want a browser interface and API.
Good fit
Teams with infrastructure for testing realtime and batch speech processing.
Consider something else when
Use a smaller tool when you only need occasional transcription and do not need storage or workflow orchestration.
Start here
Use public audio with a known transcript. Compare realtime and batch output, then inspect where the audio and resulting transcript are stored.
Cost and requirements
The Community Edition documents Docker Compose and pinned service images. Model and storage requirements depend on the pipeline you choose.
Limits to know
Self-hosting leaves retention, access and model configuration to the operator. Confirm what is stored or sent through webhooks before processing private conversations.

Why it made the leaderboard
Nanosamur.ai gives teams a self-hostable, model-agnostic speech-to-text stack, useful for air-gapped or on-prem deployments that need multiple ASR backends and agentic pipelines without depending on a hosted API.
