About
Stepgate is an MCP server that runs "stepfiles," YAML definitions of an agent's procedure where each step is gated: the agent only proceeds when a mechanical check passes, never on its own say-so. Stepfiles declare their inputs and the external APIs or MCP servers they may call, require no packages or versions to pin, and can run on any MCP client, such as Claude Code or Cursor, using that client's own model.
