nothq builds open-source native rewrites of everyday desktop apps in Rust on GPUI, the framework behind the Zed editor, replacing Electron-style web wrappers. Its first release, notslack, is a native Slack client that uses 165 MB of memory versus 1.16 GB for the official app, according to the project. notnotion and notsuperhuman are in progress or planned, and the project is independent of those companies.
