About
Ledge is a markdown notebook application that lets users run the commands embedded in their notes directly, instead of copying them into a terminal. It supports a server mode for managing remote dev environments over SSH, including access from a phone via Tailscale, and is built with Electrobun for Apple Silicon and iOS.
At a glance
Ledge runs commands from Markdown notes and shows the output beneath the block. It is worth trying if you keep operational snippets alongside explanations and regularly copy them into a terminal.
Good fit
Developers who want a reusable notebook for commands and queries they already understand.
Consider something else when
Stick to a plain Markdown editor when notes are mainly shared references or you want command execution kept separate.
Start here
Create a disposable note with two harmless shell blocks. Set a temporary variable in one and print it in the other to see what state the note keeps.
Cost and requirements
The project lists desktop builds for Apple silicon Macs, Windows and Linux. Runnable blocks depend on the relevant interpreter and configured host.
Limits to know
Inline shell blocks share a persistent shell for that note, including changed directories and exported variables. Check the target host and working directory before running a shared block.
