Earshot is a sound detection app that listens through a phone and flags sounds the user describes in plain text, such as a smoke alarm, doorbell or dog. It uses a small CLAP-style audio-text model trained by the author, so new sounds need a text description rather than a recording. The author states audio stays on the device and that the app can miss sounds, so it is not a replacement for a monitoring system.
