About
Team-managed AI coding assistance across IDE completion, chat and agents. Tabnine is now part of Tricentis. Its managed OpenCode distribution uses Tabnine-served models and organization policies; the older CLI is in maintenance mode, with critical updates through 31 December 2026.
At a glance
Tabnine is worth evaluating for teams that need AI coding assistance with organization-managed models, code context and deployment policies. Its documented interfaces span IDE completion, chat and agents. Tricentis announced its acquisition on 30 July 2026; the canonical website now redirects to Tricentis with links for existing Tabnine users. Evaluate the specific Tabnine product and deployment you can obtain, rather than treating the broader quality-engineering platform as the same coding assistant.
Good fit
Organizations that want to control which models and tools developers can use while making repository context available to an assistant. The documented terminal path now includes a managed OpenCode distribution with Tabnine sign-in, Tabnine-served models and organization policies for tools and MCP connections. Its built-in services provide remote codebase search and coaching guidelines. The potential benefit is a consistent team setup; it still needs an evaluation on your own code and review process.
Consider something else when
You want an unrestricted terminal agent with arbitrary model providers, or a quick purchase based on an old public price. The managed distribution locks the provider to Tabnine and the model list to what your organization allows. The earlier Tabnine CLI is a separate, retiring path: its quickstart says it is in maintenance mode, with critical updates through 31 December 2026, and directs users to the OpenCode distribution. Check which installer and documentation you are following before adopting a new workflow.
Start here
For an authorized team trial, first confirm that Tabnine Agents is enabled and follow the installation path for your team’s deployment. The managed terminal guide starts with the tabnine command in a project folder, uses /connect for sign-in and /models to choose an allowed model. Ask it to explain a small, non-sensitive function and compare its answer with the code before requesting changes. Check /mcps and your approval policy before allowing tools to act. These are documented steps, not a tested session: this review inspected the redirect notice without installing a plugin, signing in or sending code.
Cost and requirements
A current seat price, free allowance and production-model quota were not established. On 31 October 2026 the canonical pricing address redirected to a Tricentis contact page, so historical Tabnine prices are not reliable checkout quotes. Ask which coding, context, agent and model usage your contract includes. The managed OpenCode guide requires Agents enabled for the team and documents macOS, Linux and Windows packages. Private hosting and air-gapped options require a deployment-specific discussion; they do not mean every desktop client performs all processing locally.
Limits to know
The privacy documentation describes sending code context to a Tabnine cluster and promises ephemeral processing and no training for its covered models. The model-selection page separately warns that third-party models can have different privacy and protection terms. Repository personalization and the enterprise Context Engine also involve indexed organizational context, so check its access and retention arrangements separately. Neither a private deployment label nor a no-training promise establishes zero data storage or zero network access. Tool approval can depend on settings and administrator policy. Coding quality, latency, policy enforcement, migration and actual billing were not tested.

Why it made the leaderboard
Worth evaluating when controlled model access and repository context matter to a team. Confirm the current deployment, contract and model-specific data terms before adoption. Coding quality and policy enforcement were not tested.
