Perf win of the day: Claude Code CLI now uses 2x less CPU at p99. Bun's garbage collector was running on a fixed timer, so it would kick in mid-turn and steal CPU right when Claude Code was busiest. Now it waits until the process is idle.

Context
Anthropic reports that Claude Code's local CPU use fell after changing when its runtime performs memory cleanup. The developer post and chart show 99th-percentile CPU share declining from 24% to 10%. The stated mechanism is scheduling: garbage collection had interrupted busy turns on a fixed timer, and it now waits for the process to become idle.
This reduces competition for CPU time during active work, as the developer account explains. The measurement describes the local application's processing load; it does not measure how quickly the remote model generates an answer or how long a coding task takes.
