Context

InclusionAI's FP4 release is a lower-precision version of Ling 3.0 Flash Fin, a model trained further on financial data. Its model card says the four-bit conversion is applied in groups to routed expert weights, the parameters belonging to the model's selectively used specialist components.

The card compares FP4 with the BF16 version across four evaluations and reports mixed, relatively small score changes. That gives teams a quality reference when evaluating the compressed checkpoint. It supplies no measured deployment-speed or memory-saving result, so the release alone cannot establish the hardware benefit for a particular installation.

Terms in this piece · Glossary
  • mixture-of-experts — A model built from many specialist sub-networks where only a few activate per token, giving big-model capability at small-model running cost.

  • benchmark — A standard public test set for comparing AI models — the shared scoreboards behind every "model X beats model Y" claim.
  • AI agent — An AI system that doesn't just answer once but works toward a goal in a loop — taking actions, reading the results, and deciding what to do next.
