Birthed is a birthday-themed, open-source web app built around "the Hive," a collaborative board where users vote each day on what mattered (famous birthdays, historical events, trending songs), spending a limited number of daily "buzzes" so no one can dominate the board. Each day's board locks permanently at midnight Eastern, and the largest tile is decided by crowd majority rather than by who votes most. It began as a birthday-freebie and friend-tracking app but was rebuilt into this voting format after users raised privacy concerns about the original concept.
