About

A birthday-themed public board where participants spend limited buzzes on stories tied to a date. Vote weight determines the featured story, and its receipt records links and quotation checks.

At a glance

Birthed is a public calendar of daily story boards called hives. Readers can spend a small vote budget to enlarge stories they think will matter, then the board seals as a record of that day. Try it for a date-based time capsule with visible sources and reader participation.

Good fit

Browsing a day's news and historical connections, then seeing which stories readers chose to emphasize. The useful detail is the receipt behind each headline: it can show the original link, quotation and checks. That gives you more to inspect than the size of a tile or the crown on the leading story.

Consider something else when

You want a comprehensive history of a date, independent verification of every headline, or a website that manages friends' birthdays. Votes and source tiers answer different questions. A large tile records support within this board; it does not establish accuracy or broad consensus. The current website no longer asks for a birthday to personalize the page.

Start here

Follow the repository's Website link, open Today or a neighboring date, and select a headline to read its receipt. In the browser inspection, a story showed checks for link resolution and an exact quotation match. Those checks describe the source trail. The live board shows your remaining Buzz and Sting allowance and its closing time; the inspected November 4 board was due to seal at midnight Eastern ending November 5.

Cost and requirements

The public website is free to browse without an account or birthday. The repository describes AGPL-3.0 code. The separate iPhone app is listed as a TestFlight beta targeting iOS 17 or later. Its policy describes a hosted anonymous profile containing birthday information and optional region; some birth-date research can send the date and place to an external AI service. The website can be used without that profile.

Limits to know

The public reading path was inspected; no Buzz, Sting, share, birthday request or native app was used. The policy describes a random browser cookie for voting and a lasting record of the vote; this budget counts a browser token rather than a verified person. An exact quotation match does not prove the reported event. Read the current board's controls and deadline, since older descriptions of date personalization and voting differ.
