About
Shroom is a macOS screen recorder and sharing app that stores videos in the user's own Cloudflare account, so the only cost is Cloudflare storage and not a per-person fee. Teammates join with an invite link, old unwatched videos are cleaned up automatically unless pinned, and setup takes about ten minutes. It requires macOS 14 or newer on Apple silicon.
At a glance
Shroom is a free, MIT-licensed Mac app for recording your screen or camera and sharing the result by link. The videos, player pages and links all live in your own Cloudflare account, so the only bill is Cloudflare's storage charge. AI running in that account names new videos and adds chapters and captions. Saying "shroom cut" removes a slip from the video.
Good fit
A small team on Apple silicon Macs that wants quick recorded walkthroughs without a per-seat subscription. You invite teammates with a link. They need only a Mac, with no Cloudflare account or card of their own. Old videos are deleted automatically after a period you choose, unless you pin them, which keeps storage costs low.
Consider something else when
Anyone on your team uses Windows, Linux or an Intel Mac. Also skip it if you need password-protected or expiring links, comments, single-window or region recording, or Google sign-in. Shroom lists all of these as not yet available. Skip it too if you will not add a credit card to a Cloudflare account.
Start here
Read the installer at shroom.am/install, then run curl -fsSL https://shroom.am/install | sh, or use brew install --cask bagrat/shroom/shroom. The guided setup takes about ten minutes and walks you through creating a Cloudflare account and a token. Record a short clip, open its link, then invite a teammate from Settings → Members.
Cost and requirements
Needs macOS 14 or newer on Apple silicon, plus a Cloudflare account with a card on file. As of 2026-11-01, the FAQ says about three hours of video fits in Cloudflare's free tier, with about 5 cents per hour of video per month beyond that. Cloudflare's $5/month plan lifts the viewing limit. A $59/month company sign-in tier is announced but not yet available.
Limits to know
Links are unlisted, not secret: anyone who has the address can watch, and none expire. On Cloudflare's free plan, videos pause for the day after a few thousand total views (for five-minute videos). The app is signed but not notarized by Apple, and comes with no warranty or guaranteed support. Deleting a video works only from the Library on your Mac for now.

Still unclear
- The AI naming, chapters, captions and "shroom cut" run in your Cloudflare account. Do they add Cloudflare charges beyond storage, and do they stay within the free tier?
