Context
Producing more design options quickly does not remove the work of choosing between them. In Lenny Rachitsky's interview with Ian Silber, OpenAI's head of product design describes a process that still involves trying ideas, discarding them and discovering through feedback that an apparently good direction is wrong.
Silber says AI has compressed the time needed to explore ideas, while the feedback loop and coordination across a large company still take time. He describes encouraging his designers to experiment with tools rather than demanding an immediate overhaul of how they work. The practical distinction is between faster exploration and faster agreement on what should ship; his team's experience suggests the first does not automatically deliver the second.
