Introducing Forge, a pluggable, open-source pipeline that runs in CI to generate SDKs, CLIs, and documentation directly from API definitions. By shifting generation upstream into individual team repositories, Forge keeps developer tools continuously in sync. https://t.co/4sFvUjkRnT #BirthdayWeek
Context
Cloudflare open-sourced Forge, the pluggable pipeline it built to generate SDKs, CLIs, and documentation directly from API definitions, running the generation inside a team's own repository and CI rather than as a one-off exported package. Cloudflare's own cf CLI, launched the same day, was itself generated by Forge from Cloudflare's API schemas, which is the concrete example of what running Forge in CI is meant to produce.
Keeping that generation upstream, inside each team's repository, is what Cloudflare says keeps developer tooling in sync as an API changes: instead of someone remembering to hand-update a CLI or SDK after an API ships a new endpoint, the next CI run regenerates it from the current definition.
