Context
Google AI's April 20 post says Pro and Ultra subscribers get higher AI Studio usage limits and access to Nano Banana Pro and Gemini Pro models by signing in with their subscriber account, with no API key required. The announcement lowers the setup needed to experiment with those models inside AI Studio.
The accompanying product article describes the plan as a low-setup billing bridge for builders who have exhausted free-tier limits, and says pay-per-request API keys remain the standard for production-scale launches. A subscription therefore provides additional room to build and test, while deployment at scale retains a separate billing path.
