javaid is a Java linter written in Rust that reads an existing Checkstyle configuration file and reports the same findings as Checkstyle 14.4.0. The author reports identical results on Guava and Spring Framework with Checkstyle's bundled Google and Sun configs, running 3.6 to 5.7 times faster on one thread and using far less memory. Speed makes it practical for editors and pre-commit hooks, and it names any module it cannot run on stderr.
