Quoting Laurie Voss

Context

If producing and operating software becomes much cheaper, deciding exactly what to build could become the dominant work. That is the forecast in Laurie Voss's essay. His reasoning is that customer needs must still be discovered and expressed precisely, and a successful specification for one product rarely transfers unchanged to another.

The forecast rests on two explicit assumptions: agents eventually handle the wider development lifecycle, and demand for software keeps expanding. Voss acknowledges that evidence for automating operations remains thin. His argument therefore identifies a possible shift toward product judgment, rather than establishing that implementation and operational work have already disappeared.
