Did Semgrep Just Get A Lot More Interesting?

Context

A proposed coding- workflow would turn a discovered bug into a reusable code check. Fly.io's essay suggests using Semgrep, a tool that searches code with structural patterns, after an agent observes and repairs a runtime error. The agent would generalize the mistake into a rule, test that rule and scan the remaining code for similar cases.

Testing the rule is a necessary step in the proposal: it should match an example containing the bug and leave a clean example alone. That would help distinguish a useful check from one that merely looks plausible. The author explicitly had not established the correctness of the generated sample rule, so the account presents a design direction.
