About
QLIC (Quick Lossless Image Codec) is a lossless image format that stores still images, RGBA animation, and 8-24 bit integer samples, carrying ICC, CICP, alpha, and photographic metadata without tone-mapping or HDR inference. On a 3,167-image test corpus, it matched JPEG XL's effort-9 file sizes while encoding and decoding roughly 9x and 30% faster respectively, and it ships with a Windows GUI, a web demo, and published benchmarks.
Why it made the leaderboard
QLIC targets a real gap in lossless image codecs: matching JPEG XL's best compression ratio while encoding and decoding roughly 9x faster, useful anywhere image pipelines are bottlenecked on codec speed.
