We shipped four updates to Claude Managed Agents this week. First, you can now set a budget for sessions to keep spend predictable. Sessions that hit the limit pause with a budget_reached event, you can raise the budget to resume.
Context
Anthropic added session budgets to Claude Managed Agents, allowing work to pause when its spending allowance is reached and resume after the allowance is raised. The August 7 announcement gives applications a budget-reached signal they can use to decide whether to fund more work.
The budget documentation explains the boundary: spending is measured at public list prices, and enforcement stops new model requests. A request already running finishes, so the total can exceed the selected amount by that work. The session retains its history and execution environment while paused, allowing a spending decision without discarding the task.
