Announcing Cloudflare Wallets: the programmable wallet for the agentic Internet

Context
Cloudflare proposed Wallets so an could pay to try an online service within an owner-defined budget. The design separates a human-controlled account wallet from agent wallets with an allowance, an allow list and a maximum transaction size. Payments would accompany web requests through , reducing the need for a person to complete a separate checkout. At the Wallets announcement, claiming a handle was available; funding and payment capabilities were described as forthcoming.
The seller side subsequently reached a separate milestone: the September 30 Monetization Gateway beta let eligible U.S.-based sellers charge for requests. That related development explains where agent payments could go, without establishing that every proposed Wallets feature had shipped.
- Agents fail to adopt new APIs for two concrete reasons: no stable identity to sign up with and no native way to pay — so they punt registration and payment back to humans.
