Context

FLUX Erase, an image-editing model from Black Forest Labs, uses a marked region to specify what should disappear. The product announcement describes supplying an image and a binary mask that marks the selected pixels. The model removes the marked content and reconstructs the scene behind it, matching lighting, texture and background, without a text prompt. The company says it also removes associated traces such as shadows and subtle parts the mask missed, and an optional edge-expansion setting widens the mask slightly for soft-edged or complex subjects. The workflow makes the selection itself the editing instruction. The post's comparisons and price and latency claims are Black Forest Labs' own and are not evaluated here.
