Building ambitious software — Jonathan Kelley, Dioxus Labs & Cognition

Generating more code did not immediately translate into usable features for the team behind Dioxus, a Rust framework for building applications across platforms. In a conference talk described by its publisher, founder Jonathan Kelley says the team used coding agents to produce tens of thousands of lines of Rust, and almost none of it cleared the bar for merging.

The same description says release checklists, backports and documentation accuracy became tractable for a team of three, while agent-written tests were often not the right ones and architecture remained where the time went. Kelley's own verdict is that code is now cheap and quality is not, which is an account from one project rather than a measured comparison of agents.
