Remote browser automation can spend much of its time waiting for commands to travel between the controlling application and the browser. Browserbase explains in its multi-region account that many browser-control commands run sequentially, so each network round trip adds to task duration. Moving sessions closer to clients reduced those repeated waits. The company says its first attempts, giving browsers more resources and removing virtualization layers, were followed by the conclusion that distance was the cause. In its sample scraping tests, connecting to the nearest region gave more than twice the task-completion speed; that result concerns the tested script, not every workload.
