🌌 GPT-6 Astra from @OpenAIDevs is now generally available in GitHub Copilot.

GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI's model aimed at long-horizon autonomous coding and computer-use tasks, is now generally available inside GitHub Copilot's app, CLI and editor integration, per GitHub's announcement. It follows a running pattern of GitHub adding newly released frontier models to Copilot's model picker as each becomes available, rather than committing Copilot to a single vendor's models.

GitHub says its internal testing found GPT-6 Astra plans a task and validates as it works, batching diagnosis with verification and independently confirming its own results before declaring a task finished, which it reports led to stronger performance on long coding jobs using fewer steps than prior OpenAI models. That comparison is GitHub's own internal testing rather than an independently published benchmark.
