A model's release date and its published knowledge cutoffThe date after which a model saw no training data — everything later has to reach it through search, tools, or the context window.Full definition → describe different kinds of freshness. How Stale Is Your AI? puts those dates side by side: one records when a lab shipped the model, while the other marks where its training data stops. That distinction helps explain why a newly released model may still need external information for recent events.
The dashboard's October 12 snapshot lists 23 models from eight labs, with published cutoffs established for ten. It marks the rest as not established, which means the checked vendor sources did not establish a date, rather than proving that no date exists.
