OpenAI shipped GPT-Live-1 in its API a couple of days before this post: a voice model built to listen and speak at the same time, so it can handle interruptions, pauses and topic changes the way a live phone call does rather than waiting for one side to finish before responding.
OpenAIDevs demonstrated it by putting a phone number, 1-800-ChatGPT, in front of the public, letting anyone call and talk to the model directly instead of only reading about its capabilities.
