⭐ Track a repo's star growth over time with the new star history REST API endpoint without exposing stargazer identities. Stargazer listing endpoints were restricted to admins and collaborators to protect user privacy. But now you can get insights with this privacy-safe alternative. The details 👇 https://t.co/T7B69zcGzi

Context

Previously, seeing how a repository's popularity changed over time generally meant pulling the full list of individual stargazers, an endpoint GitHub restricts to admins and collaborators to protect user privacy. GitHub's new star history REST API endpoint instead returns aggregate growth data directly, without listing who starred the repo, so any developer can build growth charts or analytics without needing elevated access or scraping.
