Figma's MCP server now supports remote access, which means IDEs, AI coding agents, and browser-based tools can pull live design context without requiring the Figma desktop app to be running locally. That removes a real deployment blocker for teams running agents in CI, on remote machines, or inside browser-only environments where installing a desktop app was never going to happen. Figma also added new partner integrations, including Android Studio, Replit, and Warp, widening the set of environments where an agent can reach into a live Figma file and pull accurate component and style data. Combined with structured design systems, which Figma argues are what let MCP-connected agents generate on-brand, accurate code instead of generic UI, this makes design context a resource agents can reach from more places than before. Context

Figma's September 23, 2025 update, released in beta, made design accessible through a remote server, the connection coding agents use to request information from Figma. Developers no longer needed the desktop app for that connection. The update also let agents request underlying code from Make files, rather than work only from rendered previews. Code Connect added in-app mapping between design components and their code locations.
