Path to Astra: critical capabilities and frontier safeguards

OpenAI said on September 1 that Astra meets its Critical cybersecurity threshold: with the right tools and access, it can find unknown security flaws and exploit them across many well-protected systems without a person guiding each step. That level requires stronger safeguards.

The capability is not the default experience. OpenAI says advanced cybersecurity work will first go to a group of testers, with Daybreak Blue access expanding afterward for defensive use, and its cited benchmark results reflect Daybreak Blue access, not the default production configuration.
