Context

OpenHands v1.36.0 is mostly about automations, the open-source coding- project's feature for agent tasks that run on their own once set up (release notes). The most consequential change lets an automation in OpenHands Enterprise run as a service account, a non-human member of the organization, instead of as the person who set it up. According to the pull request, this lets an automation keep running after that person leaves, while the creator stays on record. Editing or turning on an automation is limited to its creator, plus, for one that runs as a service account, members allowed to manage automations. The interface does not yet offer switching an existing automation to a different identity, because its credentials do not carry over and it could start failing.

The other thread is reach into more code hosts, including self-hosted ones. Automation templates, ready-made starting points for an automation, can now list repositories from Bitbucket Data Center and Azure DevOps during setup, self-hosted GitHub templates guide users to connect through or a , and a template's chosen repository is sent only to services that clone from that provider. This continues work in v1.35.0, which had already started suggesting templates that match an instance's integrations. Other changes unify the automation create, view and edit screens, fix Windows file and path handling, and update dependencies.
