OpenAI extends cyber access to Ukraine for civilian defense

OpenAI announced on September 23 that it would offer Ukraine's government access to Daybreak, its program for AI-assisted cyber defense. Working with the country's Ministry of Digital Transformation, the company plans to give Ukrainian teams tools to identify software vulnerabilities and develop and test fixes more quickly. The announcement concerns defense of civilian infrastructure. What changes is access to additional technical assistance for the teams protecting essential services; the announcement reports no measured reduction in attacks or outages from the Ukrainian deployment.
