Context
Anyone relying on an open-source tool is implicitly betting on the people maintaining it, so it matters who actually builds that ecosystem. Ant Open Source, working with InclusionAI, published a Q1 2026 landscape report mapping more than 50 open agent projects across coding agents, personal assistants and orchestration frameworks, from OpenClaw and Claude-Mem to Aden Hive and Paperclip. Drawing on contribution data from more than 21,000 active developers, the report says the distribution follows an extreme power law, with independent developers and startups dominating and large technology companies contributing under 10 percent of the activity.
