Browserbase rebuilt session replay around screenshots of what the browser actually displayed. Its previous system reconstructed pages from recorded changes to their structure, which the company says produced incomplete or misleading replays around embedded frames, canvas content and other complex elements. The replacement captures timestamped viewport images and encodes them into video outside the browser. The engineering account explains how this preserves visual evidence for debugging while keeping video encoding away from the running automation. The recording follows the rendered screen, including content that page reconstruction struggled to reproduce.
