WeatherNext 3 uses recent satellite observations to refresh forecasts hourly, giving it a more current view of developing weather. The announcement from Google DeepMind and Google Research says the system combines those observations with historical analysis and learns from weather-station measurements to represent local conditions. Selected surface variables, including temperature and moisture, use a 5 km grid; other surface variables use 10 km and atmospheric variables use 25 km. Those differences matter: finer local temperature detail does not mean every forecast field has the same resolution. Model explanation.
