Context
Thinking Machines expanded Tinker's choice of starting models in October 2025. The announcement and attached table identify four additions: OpenAI's gpt-oss-20b and gpt-oss-120b, plus DeepSeek's DeepSeek-V3.1 and DeepSeek-V3.1-Base.
For users of the training service, this expanded which models they could customize through Tinker. It made different model families available for experiments within the same managed training environment, giving researchers more starting points for their own data and training methods.
